2. The files externaldtd.xml and novel.dtd were used in the Introduction to XML class. They will be used in this class as well, but in a more advanced manner.
3. I am advising United Way Services of Cleveland First Call For Help in their efforts on the AIRS XML Data Standards Workgroup. Here is the group's mission statement and here is one version of the schema that is proposed for data transfer.

5. Submitting a sitemap/feed to a search engine:
   • A sitemap (sometimes called a feed) helps a search engine index your website more effectively. This concept is different than that of the HTML sitemap that allows humans to navigate your website more effectively. Google would like you to use a sitemap. The preferred format for sitemaps (but not the only one) is the XML-based Sitemap Protocol [Sitemap Protocol information from sitemaps.org] [Sitemap Protocol information from Google].    • Here is the XML sitemap for this website. You can valididate it against the appropriate schema.
   • Submit your sitemap to Google Sitemaps (you will need Google account).
   • Submit your sitemap to Yahoo! Site Explorer (you will need a Yahoo! ID).
