Introduction to XML

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a very flexible text format for storing and manipulating data. Although it was originally designed for large-scale electronic publishing, it is coming to play an important role in data exchange on the Web, between databases, and elsewhere. This course provides a working knowledge of XML.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• Appraise the well-formedness of XML documents
• Define elements, entities and attributes
• Create a Document Type Definition (DTD)
• Examine the validity of XML documents
• Use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) with XML
• Understand Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL)

PREREQUISITES:

HTML: Introduction or equivalent experience.
